Problem: The problem facing the industry is that cabinet designers and installers do not have the vision, experience, attention to detail, and vendor relationships required to satisfy affluent and demanding homeowners. Retailers typically recommend low-end, high-margin cabinets with average design and installation. Other cabinet designers and installers do not follow through to service customers. Frustrations with costly delays in construction or remodels are common. Those providing adequate levels of customer service typically only market cabinets they manufacture. One frustrated customer posted this online regarding one of Studio Dwell’s direct competitors:
“I had a terrible experience and could not recommend them under any circumstances. I feel compelled to reface the cabinets at my own expense. The cabinets were not done to match the sample that was approved and were not the same level of workmanship. There were also design problems. The cabinet company tried to claim that I had actually approved a different sample than the one documented. They have resorted to insulting me personally and have treated me with arrogance and disdain rather than being honest, accountable and respectful. I intend to take legal action when I am well enough. I have been too ill with environmental illness since installation to be able to take the action necessary. Cons: Obviously, I can't list any pros when the cabinets have to be redone. That says it all.”
